Seven million students around the world are actively using Google Apps for Education to communicate and collaborate. And nearly 1.5 million accounts have been provisioned in Australia and New Zealand!
Today we're excited that another local tertiary education organisation, Unitec Institute of Technology, has rolled out Google Apps to its students.
Unitec's 23,000 students will now be able to access their email accounts, share calendars, collaborate on projects, and share videos anywhere in the world.
Google was developed at a university and a commitment to education and learning is part of our DNA, which is why we’re so pleased to see Unitec and other tertiary institutions making the most of our tools. Unitec is the third tertiary institute in New Zealand to move to Google Apps, joining the University of Waikato (25,000 students) and the University of Auckland (50,000 students) , which each moved their students to the service in 2008.
And New Zealand primary schools are in on the act too! Fendalton School in Christchurch and Pt England School in Auckland are both leading the way in New Zealand and globally in terms of learning in the cloud, using cutting edge technology to both achieve a wide range of education outcomes, while making learning fun.
